My family and I visit Anuradhapura about 3 to 4 times a year. The road is good and travel time is much less than through the Kurunegala, Dambulla route.

The ladies in my family (and in our group) are very reluctant on taking the A3/A12 road owing to a paucity of relatively clean toilet facilities on this route.

Does anyone know of decent "pit stops"on this route that can be suggested/recommended?

I really dislike going on the Ambepussa or Dankotuwa Kurunegala route to Anuradhapura.

all Cargills food city and Keels outlets have good and clean toilets... so dont worry about toilet problems.... gedara yana gaman you can use it as almost every town has one of those outlet.

i think its better to buy some stuff from them too otherwise in time we will loose this facility...

Ah! That's a thought. Thanks Tony and Ashan.

I usually travel early morning out of Colombo and usually hit Puttalam around 7:00AM. So need to find other places as well

Hi

I have been using this road to travel to Anuradhapura, very less congestion after passing Negumbo. really prefer this road to the Warakapola, Kurunegala, Damubulla road.
Please be aware, you get lots of cops with radar guns… from “karuwalagaswewa” onwards. I was driving last evening and saw over 5 such spots..
