I am also planning a trip to Vilpattuwa in August. But all 04 banglow bookings are very difficult in weekends in July/ August. Contact WLD Battaramulla. prices are very much reasonable. hope coming months are really good for going vilpattu. I found lots of details in this site related to vilpattuwa. search trip reports. valuable contact numbers also there. cheers

We visited wilpattu in May of this year and stayed at "Thalavila Banglow". It has all the facility for 10 persons excepting drinking water. It is the one of best location in Wilpattu park. Also my advice is to try to book either Thalavila or Panwila bangalows if u are interesting to watch animals rather than facilities. I think Panwila is the most closed bangalow for all the "Villu".

Its very difficult to reserve a WLD bungalow in a weekend, so we are planing on a middle of a week and then we can stay WLD bungalows easily with out pre reservation and we had done that twice. My main concern is that havent seen many trip reports on wilpattu for last few months specialy on leapord and sloth bear sightings.

I was at Mana wila bungalow last weekend. Saw nothing. All the other booking were also having bad luck. The problem is everyone is targeting the Ibawala and the panikarwillu cubs, if they are missing it seems the park is empty. We tried to ignore them and look for other but no luck. Some booking went 6 nights before they saw something. The trackers said it had something to do with the very strong winds, but they have excuses for everything. So don't be deterred and don't only go for the cubs, there are other leopards in the park. Not to mention bears.  Hopefully your luck will be better then ours

We were there mid June for three days.
Met the Ibbawala male cub twice and another cub at Pannikka vila, one Bear, one Elephant, and a few birds.
However, those few included two Spoonbills which are rare at Wilpattu according to our tracker.
So not a bad visit Smiley Good luck!

Was there in mid June,

Had a very rare opportunity to help a stranded SUV, (unfortunately both the tires were damaged, and they had been driving on flat tires), we gave them a lift to the gate and got back to Bungalow., saw 2 leopards, 5 bears…  Unfortunately could not get any pictures although I tried to get a shot of the leopard, it was too dark.

i am going there tomorrow for 3 days !!!
Yipeeee!!!!!!
Counting the minutes till the time comes to leave Colombo.

I booked the Manawila Bungalow inside the park.

I agree you do have to suffer a little, but the reward of staying inside Wilpattu is like no other.

My favorite place in the world. HERE I COME AGAIN !!!!!
