Hello Asiri,

welcome to the forum. Kalwewa area is a very beautiful area indeed. but these days the lake is almost dried up... Sad and the warm air; sure you will get it, a lot...  Smiley. Pray for some rain before you go there.

Route : Take Colombo Kandy road (A1) > Turn left at Ambepussa and proceed along A6 passing Kurunegala > Turn left past Gelewela to B423 road and proceed along it.

all the best for your trip.

Hi Ananada,

One of my good friends who lives in Australia has stayed in this house long time ago.  She mentioned about Gajabanda and boat rides.  I could remember she used to tell wht a lovely time she had here.  I had this memory and this time on our visit to Sri Lanka i thought of doing something different.  Just did a search on line and found this site with all the records about this place.  I am so lookig forward for this trip.

Hi Asiri,
If there are three families, best thing is for you to book the whole bungalow, if you are concern about freedom and privacy. Then the entire place will be yours and you will not be disturbed by any outsider.

I hope the cook will be able to cook all the nice village vegetables for us.

Yes, Their meals are very tasty. Don't forget to ask for 'Wew Maalu' (Lake fish)

Dear all

I am in a mess at the moment. I was told Kalalwewa almost dried.  I am just thinking is there any reason now to go there. I assume the beauty of the place is water.  Please advise

I found another nice house on the Yodakandiya wewa in Tissamaharama.  Just wondering weather that area is also facing the drought?

Please advice

Many thanks

Yodha wewa is full to the brim...! I was there last week. the whole area was green and the weather was fine. But towards the end of the July, I think it's the Kataragama festive season. area will be a bit crowded, but you will be able to see the perahara too.
