Hi DHK,

I've done this hike in 2004 and it's was really an amazing hike. Scenery is so beautiful and the river it self is wonderful. I even camped one night in the middle of the river about 1 mile up the river from the waterfall and it was superb as it was inside the jungle too. It was in June and sort of dry season [we took advice from villagers before that]. We got to know about the elephants are very often seen in the area. But we were lucky only to see 'Ali Beti'.
Actually I went from Hasalaka to Ududumbara.. and then to Meemure all by foot. Took 5 days for the trip. I'm sure you have seen everything I saw, so I guess no need to slow down others net speed by uploading pictures.

I can see you've been very lucky to see alot of butterflies as well as birds.

Cheers,
kishAn..

Oh yeah, definitely a MUST DO...
If you start from Popepitiya, it's about 5-6km, if you go to Udadumbara and start from Hanwella Bridge along Kalugala Road, double that and a bit more...
So be ready for about 12-13km...
Good luck for anyone who's doing this...

If you want to enjoy the hike and the scenic beauty, take a camping tent and some food and camp there.. make it a two day trip... or otherwise you will be in a rush and miss all the excitements.

Cheers!
