Kande Ela forest conservation department bungalow
I droped in to see the place because it was a stunning location and well maintained premises.
This is in between Nuwara-Eliya and Ambewela.

Thanks a lot Malaka. I did not know that forest department had a  nice bungalow like this at Kande-Ela. Will be a great place to stay during a visit to Horton Plains, specially since wildlife department bungalows are difficult to get some times.

Thanks again.

Ginihiriya costs about Rs 5000 per night for 10 people. Maha-Eliya will also be in the same range. These two are wildlife department bungalows where as Kande-ela is a forest department.

The forest bungalows generally costs about Rs250 - Rs1000 per person per night plus some miscellaneous charges for Gas/Electricity etc. Best thing is to call them and findout exactly. You can find the forest department phone number in this thread.

Dear Gayan,

It is Rs.5,900 per day, but nowadays it is not available for bookings
due non availability of water there.

I think it is a plumbing problem.

Other problem is, for a booking, someone(outsiders) needs a recommendation
from a forest department employee.

Do we have a member who can support on this matter, because I am expecting
to go there within the month.

Malaka

from ambewela it is easy. there are buses from pattipola going towards nuwara eliya. its 6km from ambewela station to kande ela  forest department bunglow.
you can get a three wheeler from ambewela, or if you get lucky there are few deleca vans in ambewela too. and 6 km is less than worlds end round trip, so if you are adventurous enough you can walk, it is nice landscape !!!
