Good post!..
And the government pricing are crazy. they quote 28.75 for a one while 25 cents coin is obsolete in Sri Lanka.

Any advise on how to book the forest department bungalow.
I tried to enquire about a one night booking at Pattipola from the Forest department. They said that it should be signed by one of the staff from the department.
Any way to overcome this?
Hope to stay 1night and do the rail hike and HP from Ohiya.

Thanks

Hi,

For a more upto date list of Forest Dpt. bungalows and prices as well as the application form see: ( sorry, don't know how to attache a PDF!)

http://www.forestdept.gov.lk/web/images/pdf/sinharaja_knuckles_kanneliya_accomodation.pdf

The Kalu ganga forest department bungalow on the road to Rambukoluwa. The road to the bungalow needs a high clearance vehicle or motor bikes.  Its beautifully situated above the Kalu Ganga. No idea what it is like inside as we tried to book it but was told it is 'closed for repairs' as is ALL the forest bungalows it seems.

Info on Thelgamuoya Forest Dept. accommodation see Ashan's post:

Hi NG

Thanks for the updates
As i heard from officials following bungalows and Campsites were closed for repairs at that time ( End of June /2015)

Morning Side Bungalow
Hirikatu oya Camping Site
Kalu ganga Wana Niwahana

So better you inquire before planning these sites

Regards
