Hello Voyager

I don't know if it'll help you, but there is a nice, well-kept little hotel ideal for a family in Dikoya, close to Hatton.
It is called RIVENDELL and overlooks the Castlereagh reservoir.
As you can guess from the location, the view is BREATHTAKING!!
We arrived on a rainy evening, but even the glimpses gifted by lightening were amazing!
We couldn't wait till dawn!
I will attach a few pictures of the view from the balcony.

Sadly I donít have any pictures of the hotel, but the facilities are excellent.
There are two floors with rooms: each with three double bedrooms, one sitting room, and a large verandah overlooking reservoir.
Six of us were there, so we had the whole floor to ourselves, which felt very homely and totally relaxing.
The rooms are nicely decorated with homely touches.
The couple who now run the hotel had come there on a short holiday, had fallen in love with the place, and had sold all they had in Colombo and bought it when the hotel went on sale. It is such a romantic place.
Charges in May were: Rs. 2500 per double room, plus Rs. 1000 per person for two meals or plus Rs. 1500 per person for all three meals.
Food was very good and the service was excellent. Lots of flowers were blooming in the garden.
You can go on a nice, leisurely boat-ride on the reservoir. Some boat operators don't provide life-jackets, but the hotel has, so no problem.
You can also go walking in the small garden and around the banks (go leech-prepared, just in case  Smiley..we were "lucky" to meet one Smiley)).

Contact details:

Have a nice holiday!
Best,
Manu

Hi Manu / Admin,

Seems to be a very good place for me since I'm willing to explore once again Bogawantalawa, the hart of the the hi-land tea production in Srilanka. Smiley ( The first visit was done in a hurry & couldn't do much   Sad).
Thanks for the information.

I stayed @ Rivendell couple of weeks ago. Cannot praise the place enough. Excellent service, comfortable rooms, wonderful food etc. Ideal for a family or a group of friends. Went boating in the lake with life jackets provided by the hotel! We stayed for two nights as we were driving around the area. All contact details provided are correct by Manu. Please care for the surroundings if you stay there. I am uploading some images.
Happy travelling

I stayed in this hotel last weekend with my family for one night. It is a hotel with a breathtaking view of Castlereigh resorvire and sorroundings. Our room was very comfortable and clean and bathroom also very clean. The staff is very caring and one feels like at home. The food is very tasty and there is a chef who will prepare your preferred menus.
It cost us Rs. 8500 at full board double rate.
I will attach  some photos of this lovely place.
