Significance: One and Only Prehistoric Dolmen in Sri Lanka

About 4 miles north of Rambukkana in the heart of the village lies the Dolmen or the Gal-massa of Padavigampala. It is one of our pre historic relics attributed to Stone Age man and the only known relic of such design found in Sri Lanka. Rectangular in shape it consists of three sides of enormous slabs of solid rock and a fourth slab which is the biggest consisting of the roof. A mere glimpse of the dolman gets anyone’s attention & curiosity due to its shape and structure. There is no historic documentation found associated to this structure because it is said to belong to a period before history was ever written.
